Thoughts on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Thoughts on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is whether we realize it or not, one of the most serious things (if not the most serious) that has been before the United States Senate in 2012. You may say: “What?!?” “It's just a harmless treaty on the rights of people with disabilities.” Well, the fact of the matter is this: we don't need the UN telling us how to run our lives. We are on the highway to communism, whether we realize it or not. If this bill is passed, the Convention on the Rights of the Child is next. President Obama has even said that the failure to sign the Convention on the Rights of the Child is embarrassing, and promised to review it. If it's next, we are going to be seeing the end of freedom in America. Wake up! Wake up before it's too late! Our freedom is being taken away from us before our very eyes, and we have been too stupid to see it. Edmund Burke said that the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. It is absolutely imperative that we stop doing nothing! Look at the nation. We are facing loss of freedom, economic disaster, and our president has declared that we are no longer a Christian nation.

Why? Good men have done nothing. Think about it. When good men were doing something, such as the Puritans, there were revivals. Great Awakenings. We need to pray for another one. If good men started doing something, we would see results. Results that would shock us. And is all this necessary? Yes. How can we be fulfilling the Great Commission by doing nothing? Too long we have been idle. And now we wake up almost too late. The nation is falling before our very eyes. And what are we going to do about it? Most people are probably going to do nothing. But take courage! Be bold! If everyone expects everyone else to do it, no one is going to do it. We can not sit back and watch as our freedom is taken away. God is not dead. He is very much alive. How can we honor Him by doing nothing? Proverbs 25:26 says: “Like a trampled spring and a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.” We have given way to the wicked for too long now. Quit being trampled springs and polluted wells! What good are they? We must rise up and stand for what is right. If this nation is ever going to change and become blessed by God again, people's hearts must change. Romans 10:14 says: “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” Does that mean we are all called to be preachers? Absolutely not. But does that mean we sit back and watch? No! Proverbs 25:26 says righteous man, not pastors. Stand up! Quit hiding! We are doing nothing, and we must do something. You may choose to do nothing. You may read this and agree with it, but still do nothing. You can do that, but I would have you realize that evil is flourishing in America because we have done nothing. Be a light to the world, a city on a hill that can not be hidden! Where am I going with all this? Well, it started with the UN Convention. And I'll get back to it. Please call or email your senator. Please refrain from doing nothing. It never got anybody anywhere. This treaty, if passed, will force you to do what the UN considers necessary for a child with disabilities. Don't believe me? Here's the link: http://www.un.org/disabilities/convention/conventionfull.shtml This country is not socialistic. It is becoming before our very eyes a very communistic nation. And we're doing nothing about it. We have closed our eyes too long. But it's not too late. Not yet. But it will be if we keep doing nothing. Contact your senator! Contact your governor! Contact all your government officials! This battle is not over. It is for them, though they don't realize it. Zechariah 2:8 says: “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.” Fear not. Wicked men, government officials, and everyone else will be judged one day by God's standards, not theirs. And that is a comforting thought. But first, we must stop doing nothing. And we may not get the results we want. Robert E. Lee summed it up very well when he said: “The duty is ours. The consequences are God's.”

153 countries have all ready signed the treaty. And so has the United States. But Senate approval is still needed.

Will you be at fault for not doing everything in your power to stop this treaty, including praying for this nation with everything in you? Are you doing your duty?
